The Legal Issues Committee discussed with the first reading the Bill on Notary, envisaging the increase of the marginal age for Notaries to the position, namely, the upper age limit shall be established as 70, while the current edition provides the upper age limit of 65 years, though the Justice Ministry is empowered to, based on the application of the Notary and the substantiated recommendation of the Chamber of Notaries, extend the authority term with at most 5 years.
“The change excludes the existence of any additional mechanism, which means the annulment of the discretion of the Minister. The Bill entitles all notaries to exercise their functions up to 70 years,” the Deputy Justice Minister, Tornike Cheishvili elucidated.
