Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania Andrius Kalindra has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Ambassador was summoned “in connection with the ongoing processes in Georgia and the position and actions of the Lithuanian side in relation to the Law on Transparency”.
“The Georgian side explained to the Ambassador that the recent statements made by Lithuanian officials, as well as the participation of the Lithuanian Foreign Minister in the protest, as well as the summoning of the Georgian Ambassador to the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry due to the adoption of the transparency law, represent gross interference in the country’s internal affairs and are not compatible with the traditionally existing friendly and partnership relations between the two countries.
At the meeting, the parties expressed the hope of returning the relations between the two countries to a positive agenda, and expressed the readiness of the foreign ministries of the two countries to continue working on the current agenda of cooperation,” reads the statement.
