Lawyer: Saakashvili was Recognized as a “Victim” by Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office

Nika Gvaramia, the lawyer of the third president of Georgia, says Mikheil Saakashvili was recognized as a victim by the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office.

He noted that they are investigating the actions of Georgian law enforcers against Saakashvili, and says they confirmed the actions committed and now the only thing left is to identify the accused.

“The latest information from Ukraine: There was a case relating to the use of excessive force and possible torture of Saakashvili. Today, Mikheil Saakashvili is recognized as a victim. In other words, there is a fact, there is a victim, the only step that needs to be taken is to identify the accused and most likely, it will be the Georgian law enforcement agencies and maybe not only the law enforcement agencies, high officials and not only high officials,” Gvaramia said.

Mikheil Saakashvili, a citizen of Ukraine, was arrested in October last year after returning to Georgia and transferred to Rustavi Prison.

The ex-president went on a hunger strike for 50 days in protest, during which he was placed against his will in Gldani Prison Hospital.

Finally, the ex-president stopped the hunger strike after being taken to Gori hospital. Currently, Saakashvili is in Rustavi prison. The Office of the State Inspector of Georgia is investigating possible inhuman treatment against him.
