In response to Belarus President Aleksander Lukashenko’s visit to Russian-occupied Abkhazia, American congressman Adam Kinzinger reaffirmed that Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region would always remain a part of Georgia. He also denounced Lukashenko’s visit to Russian-occupied Abkhazia.
“Lukashenko’s visit to the unlawfully seized parts of Georgia is against international conventions,” Kinzinger highlighted.
“True, it is not surprising that the despot from Belarus does everything as he is dictated to by Moscow. However, the international community should make it very clear that Tskhinvali and Abkhazia were and will always be the territory of Georgia,” the congressman told Voice of America.
Lukashenko’s visit to Abkhazia, in Adam Kinzinger’s judgment, is related to the Kremlin’s failures in Ukraine. He also believes that Georgia should be extremely cautious when acting in light of the increased threat in the area.
“Now that Putin’s campaign in Ukraine is weakening, Georgians should be wary of any potential moves by the Kremlin. Georgia is very well aware of all the threats that the Kremlin poses to its sovereignty, and the Georgian people should not buy into the false narratives spread by anti-Western voices,” said Kinzinger.
