Kelly Degnan: Now is Time for Unity, to Push Aside Attacks that will Facilitate Polarization

“I want to emphasize that now is the time for unity, now is the time to focus on the future of Georgia. It’s the time to push aside attacks which contributes to polarization and division,” said the US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan.

“The United States has been a strong supporter of Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration for 30 years. This is what we are working closely with Georgia on, both in terms of EU and NATO membership. There is now a huge opportunity for Georgia to make progress on the political reforms agreed upon by all political parties that are needed for Georgia’s future and Euro-Atlantic integration.

“This is a great opportunity for Georgia, and I want to emphasize that now is the time for unity, now is the time for Georgia to focus on the future and push aside attacks which encourage polarization and division: thinking about where this country is going and working together for Georgia’s future. Now is the time to make progress.

“We believe in Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic future, but it is up to Georgians to work for it. We know it is a difficult job, but we believe you can do it, ” said the ambassador.
