President Mikheil Kavelashvili made public speech regarding Georgia’s Independence Day on May 26, calling fornational unity, traditional values, and sovereign decision-making.
Speaking at a ceremonial event, Kavelashvili congratulated all Georgians, saying the day represents “unity, love of freedom, resilience, and tireless struggle.” He emphasized the country’s deep historical roots in European identity and values, stating that “our ancestors linked Europe not only with geography but with justice, peace, Christianity, culture, and national identity.”
The president reinforced Georgia’s commitment to partnerships based on ‘equality and mutual benefit, clearing that the government’s “decisions will always serve Georgia’s national interests.” He warned against foreign interference, asserting, “we will not allow the Georgian people to be sacrificed for the interests of external forces.”
Kavelashvili placed particular emphasis on the traditional family as the ‘cornerstone of national strength,’ further adding, “Georgian people have repeatedly voiced that traditional family values are an integral part of our identity.”
Pointing out a collective vision for the future, he concluded: “We are not a numerous people, so we must care for each other. Every individual’s success contributes to Georgia’s prosperity.”
