Georgia was not invited to the EU ministerial-level meeting on cross-regional security and connectivity, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said in response to a question from Euroscope editor Tamar Nutsubidze.
Kallas made the comment at a press conference following the conclusion of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg.
Asked whether Georgia had been invited to the ministerial — which brings together the foreign ministers of Black Sea and Central Asian countries — Kallas replied briefly:
“Georgia was not invited.”
The EU’s top diplomat also addressed Euroscope’s question regarding potential sanctions.
“As you know, we have proposed several measures under different sanctions regimes. So far, we have not been able to adopt them because not all member states are supportive.
When it comes to visas, the Commission will present its visa suspension mechanism later this year, also putting forward regulations for certain groups. It is not my competence, so I will not comment in detail,” said Kallas.
