On the initiative of the United Nations, every year since 1972, World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5.
Celebration of the occasion aims at realizing the responsibility of people towards nature, promoting the sustainable development of the environment, and active involvement of society in the preservation and improvement of the domain.
Every year, this day has a different theme. This year’s International Environment Day theme is to protect the environment from plastic pollution, with the slogan #BeatPlasticPollution.
