The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it carried out overnight airstrikes targeting a section of Tehran where key Iranian government buildings are located.
IDF says approximately 100 Israeli Air Force fighter jets dropped more than 250 bombs on the targeted complex.
The Israeli military stated that the buildings struck included the office of the Iranian president, the headquarters of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, and a facility used for the training of Iranian army officers.
In a statement, the military described the site as one of the most heavily protected locations in Iran.
“The leadership complex of the Iranian terrorist regime is one of the most fortified sites in the country, covering several streets in central Tehran. Leaders of the terrorist regime and security officials frequently gathered there and, among other matters, planned Iran’s nuclear programme and strategies aimed at the destruction of the State of Israel,” the statement said.
There has been no immediate confirmation or response from Iranian authorities regarding the extent of the damage or casualties.
The reported strike marks a significant escalation amid heightened tensions in the region.
