The Ministry of Internal Affairs launched an investigation into the attack on Lado Apkhazava, winner of the national teacher’s award, under Article 126, which refers to violence.
Lado Apkhazava was attacked last night. He claims that the incident happened near his residence in Lanchkhuti. His 20-year-old son was also injured.
He said the attackers had sticks. When asked what he supposes the reason was behind the attack, he replied: “Probably because of my participation in the actions, I am giving speeches, protesting the Russian law.”
In connection with the incident, the National Teacher’s Award released a statement on Facebook and said that the attack is especially suspicious in the light of his civic activism – participation in rallies against the Russian Law.
“We expect that the investigation will be carried out in a timely and efficient manner,” the statement of the National Teacher’s Award reads.
