According to the report published by Saxstat, the annual inflation rate in January in Georgia was 0.0 percent. Such a low rate of inflation has not been seen in the country since October 2016.
Considering the low inflation, on January 31, the National Bank decided to reduce the refinancing rate by 0.5 percentage points to 9%.
Currently, low inflation is caused by a 2.4% decrease in food prices in the largest consumer group. Also, prices in the healthcare sector decreased by 3.3%.
