Ilia State University will significantly reduce its undergraduate intake for the 2026–2027 academic year, accepting only 300 students, a thirteenfold decrease from last year’s 3,828 admissions.
The government recently issued a decree setting admission quotas for all state higher education institutions. Under the decree, Ilia State University will also enroll 60 students in its master’s programs.
Tbilisi State University has been allocated the largest quota, admitting 6,650 students, followed by the Georgian Technical University with 3,880 slots. In total, state universities across Georgia will enroll 21,300 students in the upcoming academic year.
