The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, signed the decree on the calling of extraordinary presidential elections in Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani media reports.
At this stage, it is not known what caused the election to be held before the deadline.
Based on the decree, the Central Election Commission was instructed to ensure the holding of presidential elections in Azerbaijan on February 7, 2024 in accordance with the procedure established by the Election Code of the Republic.
