The Georgian Football Federation’s new training center ‘Avaza’ has been completed.
The historic ‘Avaza’ stadium had previously been transferred to private ownership but negotiations made it possible to return it to the municipality.
“’Avaza’s’ historic stadium was transferred into private property and after some time, the owner would have had no obligations. They could have carried out different projects there, including residential buildings. After negotiations with the owners, an agreement was reached, a land swap was carried out, and the stadium was returned to the municipality,” Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said.
He noted that the municipality handed the complex to the Football Federation with the obligation to arrange football infrastructure.
“Today the city already has a renovated and modernized ‘Avaza’ football school. UEFA and FIFA grants were used for this project. The complex now includes a new standard field with stands and lighting, a mini field with stands and lighting, and a locker room building. Local children’s football schools and girls’ teams will be able to use the new infrastructure free of charge,” Kaladze stated.
He thanked the leadership of the Football Federation for their cooperation and mentioned the importance of such initiatives.
