Severe rainfall has triggered natural disasters across several municipalities in Georgia’s Adjara region.
In Keda Municipality’s village of Dologani, a landslide caused the collapse of a residential house, leaving two people injured, Keda City Hall reported.
Meanwhile, in Khelvachauri Municipality, the Machakhela River overflowed its banks early this morning, flooding several homes and damaging local infrastructure.
Relief efforts are underway. Khelvachauri Mayor Zaza Diasamidze visited the affected areas and said municipal services, together with the Adjara Road Department, are working intensively to address the damage.
“As a result of the disaster, the river overflowed its banks, flooding several houses and a picnic area. Relevant services of the City Hall and equipment from the Road Department have been mobilized to the site. Work is underway in an intensive mode. We are in constant communication with the population and calm is maintained at this stage,” Diasamidze stated.
