The Ministry of Health has announced the opening of Georgia’s first medical unit dedicated to the mandatory treatment of individuals suffering from drug addiction.
Located within the Center for Mental Health and Prevention of Addiction, the new inpatient facility currently accommodates 22 patients, with plans to gradually increase capacity in the near future.
To mark the launch, the site was visited by Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze and Deputy Interior Minister Giorgi Butkhuzi.
The ministry says the treatment process is managed by a multidisciplinary team of addiction specialists, general physicians, psychologists, and social workers. Care will follow modern clinical guidelines and international standards, tailored to each patient’s individual needs.
The facility is staffed with highly qualified professionals and aims to provide comprehensive and effective addiction treatment.
