The Minister of IDPs, Labor, Health, and Social Protection, Zurab Azarashvili, highlighted the progress in providing housing for internally displaced families (IDPs) in Georgia.
He mentioned that ten years ago, only 18,000 IDP families had housing satisfaction, but by the end of 2025, he expects this number to increase to 60,000 families.
Azarashvili discussed large-scale construction projects underway in five Georgian cities: Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Borjomi, and Rustavi. The budget for the project is approximately GEL 900 million, and by the end of 2025, around 13,000 displaced families are expected to receive housing.
“Construction is actively underway. I think that next year, we will have the opportunity to hand over several hundred apartments in Kutaisi and Tbilisi. Our goal is to create decent living conditions for the displaced families before returning to Abkhazia,” said Zurab Azarashvili.
