The Georgian government has submitted the very first draft of the country’s 2025 budget to parliament, demonstrating an old-fashioned approach to fiscal strategy. The notable aspects include an expected economic growth of 5.5% and the GDP prediction of GEL 97.4 billion, amounting to over $9,600 for GDP per capita.
The budget’s total expenditure is GEL 31.2 billion, including all state obligations. A detailed allocation of finances can be found below:
Healthcare and social security programs – an increase of over GEL 870 million;
Scientific and educational initiatives – an increase of GEL 370 million;
Defense, internal affairs, and security – an increase of over GEL 330 million;
Infrastructure – over GEL 7 billion;
Agricultural programs – GEL 630 million;
Environmental protection – GEL 240 million;
Notably, employees at government departments and agencies responsible for budget outlays will see their salaries increase by 10% by 2025.
