Giorgi Danelia has left the position of director of the Pension Agency, he announced on social media, noting that he will continue his activities in the banking sector.
In addition, Danelia summarized his time at the Pension Agency.
“Dear friends! The pension reform is one of the most important steps in the development of our country, which should play an important role in the sustainable development of the economy, as well as lay the foundation for the social security of citizens.
“I am proud to have worked with the Pension Agency team for the past 2.5 years, without whom this great work would not have been possible!
“It is clear that, like all important affairs, the pension reform has also been accompanied by many difficulties and challenges arising from the local and international context. But during this period, our team not only overcame all these difficulties, but also made a number of reliable investments and brought more than 500 million GEL of profit to the participants of the scheme.
“At the same time, for more effective, reliable and quality services for our citizens, we started full digitization of the agency’s services, refined the operational direction, expanded the geographical area of service delivery. As a result of this, citizens can already receive any services of the agency in the houses of justice throughout the country.
“We also implemented the best international standards, as a result of which the agency successfully passed the ISO27001 certification process already in May of this year.
“The agency is as open and transparent as possible. All its activities are reflected in investment or operational documents, which are proactively published on the agency’s website and on various social platforms.
“I consider that my mission in the pension fund is complete. The agency has already been established as a strong state institution, which will play a worthy role in the further development of the country and which (I am sure) will be well led by my successors. At this point, I will move to the private sector, specifically the banking sector, and from there I will try to contribute to the further development of the economy!
“I want to thank all people involved in the development of the reform! Thanks to the media for their cooperation. Thanks to our partners, international organizations, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, Asian Development Bank and others. Also, thanks to USAID, with whom we created a 3-5 year strategy for the development of the agency.
“Thanks to the supervisory and investment boards of the agency for their trust, constant support and standing by me!
“And finally, once again, special thanks to the entire team of the agency! Attitude to your work, professionalism and dedication are the main factors determining the success of the reform! I’m sure we’ll be seeing the results of your hard work for many years to come as scheme participants! Good luck!”, Giorgi Danelia wrote.
The Pension Agency, established following the 2018 pension reform, started collecting and administering the funds of the participants of the mandatory funded pension scheme on January 1, 2019. The funded pension scheme is based on the 2% + 2% + 2% principle of accumulation. The employer transfers on behalf of the employee 2% of the untaxed amount of employee salary to the employee’s individual pension account. The same amount is contributed to the employee’s individual pension account by the employer on their behalf. Based on the amount of the employee’s salary (but not more than 2% of the untaxed salary), the contribution for the benefit of the employee is also made by the state.
