German Minister of State for Europe Günther Krichbaum has said that “all options are on the table” regarding Georgia, expressing deep concern over the country’s recent political developments and its distancing from the European path.
Speaking to reporters in Luxembourg ahead of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting, Krichbaum described the situation in Georgia as “truly disappointing” and emphasized that Germany stands with the Georgian people, not the government.
“The recent developments in Georgia regarding the European approach are truly disappointing,” he said. “We are, of course, on the side of the population, we support them. But the behavior of the government is unacceptable. All options — I say, really all options — are on the table.”
Krichbaum’s remarks come as EU foreign ministers gather in Luxembourg to discuss key issues including Ukraine, Moldova, and the political situation in Georgia.
