In the first half of the year, Georgian Railways generated an income of 305,719,000 GEL. However, this reflects a decrease of 5.3 million GEL (1.7%) in comparison to the income from the same six-month period in the previous year, 2022.
Notably, the expenses related to employees witnessed a significant increase of 22.5 million GEL. This expense category grew from 97.4 million GEL to 119.9 million GEL.
During the second quarter alone, “Georgian Railways” recorded revenues amounting to 167.8 million GEL.
Revenues of “Georgian Railways” in 6 months of 2023:
- Freight shipments – 170.3 million GEL (6 months of 2022 – 191 million)
- Logistics services – 68 million GEL (6 months of 2022 – 61 million)
- Cargo management – 40.4 million GEL (6 months of 2022 – 40 million GEL)
- Border tax for freight wagons – 3.9 million GEL (6 months of 2022 – 3.6 million)
- Rental of carriages and other property – 2 million GEL (6 months of 2022 – 2.9 million)
- Passenger services – 18 million GEL (6 months of 2022 – 9.8 million GEL)
- Other – 2.97 million GEL (6 months of 2022 – 2.1 million)
According to the data of 6 months, there is a decrease of 2.4% in annual terms. Only in the second quarter, the railway serviced 3.5 million tons of cargo, which is 8.2 percent less than the corresponding period last year. In the second quarter, 10.7 percent of the cargo transported by rail came from domestic transportation, 31.2 percent from international transportation (not including transit), and 58.1 percent from transit.
“Georgian Railways” transported 6,652,000 tons of cargo and served 1,041 million passengers in 6 months of this year.
