Georgian Railway will operate additional passenger trains on March 21–22, offering free travel across major routes to accommodate those attending the funeral and memorial services of Ilia II. The company said both regular and additional trains will be available free of charge for passengers traveling to and from the capital during the period of national mourning.
To handle increased demand, several extra rides have been added on main intercity routes:
- Tbilisi– Batumi – Tbilisi (#888/887)
Departure: 21:00 → Arrival: 02:22
Return: 08:45 → 13:44 - Tbilisi –Poti – Tbilisi (#872/871)
Departure: 09:10 → Arrival: 14:45
Return: 17:20 → 22:54 - Tbilisi –Zugdidi – Tbilisi (#878/877)
Departure: 18:30 → Arrival: 00:40
Return: 08:35 → 14:44
In addition to the extra services, all regular routes will continue operating as scheduled, including connections between Tbilisi and major cities such as Batumi, Poti, Zugdidi, Ozurgeti, Borjomi and Gardabani.
Passengers can obtain free tickets at Georgian Railway ticket offices by presenting a valid ID. Ticket distribution begins at 17:00, ahead of the travel dates.
