Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze today reiterated his government’s unwavering commitment to securing European Union membership by 2030. He emphasized that this goal remains central to the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party’s vision for the country’s future.
“This is our responsibility to every citizen of Georgia, especially to the 1,120,000 voters who supported our course and our slogan – towards Europe only with peace, dignity, and prosperity,” Kobakhidze stated during a press briefing, referring to the strong backing the GD received in last month’s parliamentary elections.
Despite facing what he described as “artificial obstacles” from both European officials and domestic opposition, the Prime Minister stressed that the government has worked tirelessly over the past year and a half to secure Georgia’s EU membership candidate status. “We wrested it from the hands of those forces who saw it as an instrument of blackmail and destabilization,” he added.
Kobakhidze also emphasized that under the GD administration, Georgia has achieved tangible progress on the path to European integration. “We will take care of every Georgian citizen, regardless of their views,” he said.
