Today, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with China’s Ambassador to Georgia Li Yan.
The meeting at the Administration of the Government focused on close cooperation with the Chinese Government throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as on China’s assistance in securing the first vaccine batch. The Prime Minister thanked China for providing Georgia with 100,000 Sinovac doses free of charge, and emphasized the importance of delivering additional doses within a tight timeframe.
The meeting also touched on the relations between the two countries and prospects of deeper cooperation in the future. The parties commended the high level of Georgia-China partnership, which has seen further growth in recent years.
The Prime Minister and the Ambassador also discussed the economic and trade relations between the two countries, emphasizing the significance of the FTA with China in further deepening trade and economic cooperation. The parties pointed out certain opportunities stemming from the pandemic in this direction, and expressed hope that the trade and economic indicators, as well as visitor flows between the two countries, will return to the pre-pandemic level soon.
