Georgian judo team claims 4 gold, 1 bronze medals at the Tbilisi Grand Slam

Georgian judo team claims 4 gold, 1 bronze medals at the Tbilisi Grand Slam

Lasha Bekauri is a two-time Tbilisi Grand Slam champion. The judoka defeated his Azerbaijani rival Eljan Hajiyev in the 90 kg weight category.

Heavyweight Guram Tushishvili wrestled for the gold medal in the final block on the same day and claimed a victory.

In the final, the Georgian world champion defeated Georgian Ushangi Kokauri, competing on behalf of Azerbaijan, and brought the fourth gold medal to the Georgian national team at the tournament.

Recently, Saba Inaneishvili (+100 kg) won a bronze medal at the competition. In total, the Georgian national team has four gold and one bronze medals at the Tbilisi Grand Slam.

The winners of the tournament were Eter Liparteliani (57 kg), Lasha Shavdatuashvili (73 kg), Guram Tushishvili (+100 kg) and Lasha Bekauri (90 kg). The Georgian team took the first place in the overall team competition.
