The Georgian National Film Center has announced that Tengiz Abuladze’s film “Repentance” will return to the Cannes International Film Festival after 34 years.
The film will be presented in the “Cannes Classics” section, which has existed since 2004. In this section, they show films previously screened in the Film Festival program. This time, those films will be screened in a restored digital format.
The world premiere of “Repentance” took place in Cannes in 1987. The film won three awards at the Film Festival. In 1988, Repentance was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film.
