The Ministry of Culture of Georgia has launched the annual literary competition for the ‘Ana’ Prize, established in 2022 in honor of the renowned Georgian poet Ana Kalandadze. The award is dedicated to supporting, showcasing and encouraging women writers, while one of the categories allows both male and female authors to participate with works centered on women’s themes.
Eligible participants include Georgian citizens as well as Georgian-registered legal entities, such as publishers and publishing houses. Submissions must consist of contemporary works by female authors published in the previous year, or works originally written in a foreign language and translated into Georgian. Unpublished manuscripts prepared for publication during the past year are also eligible.
Winners will be selected in the following categories:
- Female Prose Writer – for the best prose collection
- Female Poet – for the best poetry collection
- Female Translator – for the best translation
- Best Work on a Woman’s Theme – open to both male and female authors
Each category winner will receive a certificate and a prize of GEL 5,000, in alignment with Georgian tax regulations. Authors may submit works to multiple categories but only one work per category is permitted. If a participant wins in multiple categories, they will receive the prize for each award individually.
Applications will be accepted until 12:00 PM on September 30, 2025, either in printed form at the Ministry’s address (4 Sanapiro Street, Tbilisi) or electronically via the official email: info@culture.gov.ge.
