The Georgian National Tourism Administration announced the United Nations World Tourism Organization’s decision that on September 27, Georgia will host World Tourism Day for the first time.
“Pave the way for a peaceful tomorrow through the journeys we take today. For World Tourism Day 2024, let’s reflect on the role of tourism as an agent of peace,” the United Nations World Tourism Organization wrote on Facebook.
As part of the large-scale event, Georgia will be visited by high-ranking guests from many countries, ministers of tourism, representatives of international organizations and professionals in the field of tourism.
Discussion panels will be held within the framework of the World Tourism Day, the world trends of tourism development and the importance of peace in terms of the development of the industry will be discussed.
In the spring of 2023, 38 member countries of the European Commission of the United Nations World Tourism Organization unanimously supported the initiative of the Georgian delegation to hold the event in Georgia in 2024.
The World Tourism Day has been celebrated by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) since 1979, on September 27 every year.
