Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced that travel time on Georgia’s main Tbilisi–Batumi railway route is expected to decrease by approximately 30 minutes by the summer of 2026. The information was shared at an event dedicated to the completion of the Georgian Railway modernization project.
The Prime Minister said the government is implementing a series of operational reforms to improve efficiency on the line. These include streamlining administrative procedures, removing existing operational bottlenecks and expanding the use of digital technologies across railway services.
As Kobakhidze stated, the modernization of Georgian Railway is a major step forward for the country’s transport infrastructure, enhancing passenger convenience and reinforcing Georgia’s role as a regional transit hub.
He also expressed appreciation to the teams involved in the project, emphasizing that their work demonstrates a high level of professionalism and commitment.
