Today would have marked the 41st birthday of Georgia’s National Hero Giorgi Antsukhelidze. Servicemembers of the 4th Infantry Brigade of the Georgian Defense Forces, along with representatives of the Sergeant Academy named after Antsukhelidze and members of his family, paid tribute to his memory at the Mukhatgverdi Brothers’ Cemetery.
His comrades laid a wreath on his grave in honor of his sacrifice.
Junior Sergeant Giorgi Antsukhelidze, a servicemember of the 41st Battalion of the 4th Infantry Brigade, was killed heroically during the Russia–Georgia war in August 2008.
Antsukhelidze was awarded the Order of Vakhtang Gorgasali, 1st Class, as well as the service medal “For Devotion to the Motherland.” He was posthumously bestowed the title of National Hero of Georgia.
