Georgia has made history by winning its first-ever gold medal in pairs at the European Figure Skating Championships, currently underway in Great Britain.
Representing Georgia, Luka Berulava and Anastasia Metelkina captured the European title after delivering standout performances in both segments of the competition. The pair earned 75.96 points in the short program to secure a minor gold medal, then dominated the free skate with 139.80 points, finishing first overall with a combined score of 215.76.
The second competition day also brought success for Georgia in the men’s event, as Nika Egadze claimed a minor gold medal in the short program.
With this victory, Berulava and Metelkina have now completed a full set of European Championship medals. They won silver in 2024 and bronze in 2025, making their 2026 gold a landmark achievement for Georgian figure skating.
