Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met with United Nations Resident Coordinator Didier Trebucq to discuss the main areas of economic cooperation and future development priorities.
The talks centered on advancing inclusive economic growth, with a strong focus on green energy, energy efficiency, digital transformation, transport and logistics, sustainable tourism, and education. Both sides emphasized the importance of aligning national development goals with the UN Framework Program for Cooperation to accelerate economic progress through closer coordination with UN agencies.
Special attention was given to expanding the UN’s role in supporting the development of the Middle Corridor, as well as strengthening Georgia’s transport and logistics infrastructure. In this context, Kvrivishvili briefed the UN Resident Coordinator on major ongoing and planned projects, including the Railway Modernization Project and the Anaklia Deep Sea Port.
The meeting also explored prospects for cooperation in the green energy sector, particularly in the adoption of new technologies such as green hydrogen production. Discussions covered the strategic significance of integrating the South Caucasus energy system with the European Union’s energy network, a project described as beneficial for all participating stakeholders.
Deputy Ministers of Economy Gennady Arveladze and Tamar Ioseliani also took part in the meeting.
