The State Procurement Agency reported that the Georgian government has allocated EUR 765,750 for renovation efforts for a newly purchased embassy building in Budapest.
Despite having a new building, located in the 6th district of Budapest, the embassy still functions in a rented space while the necessary adjustments are being made to the new one, which was built in the 19th century and spans 1,360 square meters. As of now, the establishment needs both interior and exterior renovations, including modernized communication systems, improved flooring, doors, windows, drainage, and restructuring of the facade.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out Hungary as Georgia’s ‘main strategic partner’ in the EU, thus, requiring a larger and better-equipped embassy.
