For Georgia: Thank you Europe for believing in us & not leaving Georgia alone with Russia

“For Georgia” party responded to the European Commission’s positive recommendation regarding the granting of status to Georgia.

In a statement, the party members congratulated and thanked the population of the country on this historically important decision and noted that this is a victory of the Georgian people. They also thanked the European people for their tremendous support.

“Thank you to the People of Georgia! Today belongs to the People of Georgia! Thank you for constantly proving to the world that our choice is Europe, not Russia! Thank you for being so unswervingly loyal to freedom by repeatedly paying the heavy price and understanding that peace, prosperity and security for each of us is possible only with Europe.

“Thank you to the European people! Because you see the unwavering choice of the Georgian people and are loyal friends of our country! Yes, that is how friends behave – they stand by their friends despite difficulties!

“Now is the time for unity and hard work! Now we all have to do everything for Georgia to regain its leadership status in the process of full membership in European Union! No one can do it on his own!

“Unity is the task of the Georgian people now! In order to achieve the goal of our ancestors and fulfill the dream of our children; In order to bring this country into the European Union, the shortest way is the united effort!

“We urge everyone to unite for Georgia! Nobody and nothing can stop our progress towards Europe!
Whoever understands the task of the Georgian people – very good, and whoever does not understand it, they will be an enemy of the State and, therefore, our enemy, and this will be a red line for us! 2024 will come very soon!,” reads the statement.

The leader of the party, Giorgi Gakharia, also responded to the European Commission’s recommendation, congratulating the people of Georgia and thanking Europe.

“Thank you, Georgian people, for your perseverance & unwavering determination to join the European family. Thank you Europe for believing in us & not leaving Georgia alone with Russia. Now we need national unity to conduct necessary reforms & demonstrate to our European friends that we are trusted & responsible ally. Once again, we have to become leaders on the road to the EU membership. Our dream to ensure Georgia’s European future is becoming a reality”, he wrote.

In a momentous decision, the European Commission has put forth a recommendation to grant Georgia the status of a candidate for EU membership. This announcement came directly from the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
