The party “For Georgia” is considering Giorgi Shrashidze as its candidate for Tbilisi Mayor in the upcoming local self-government elections.
Sharashidze is currently a member of the Tbilisi City Council (Sakrebulo) and also serves on the political council of the “For Georgia” party.
He is the founder of Entrepreneur Georgia and OK! Magazine, as well as NRJ Georgia radio and Georgia Today.
“For Georgia” and the coalition “Strong Georgia”, which currently unites the Lelo party and Aleko Elisashvili’s party, will be participating in the 2025 local self-government elections.
A total of nine opposition parties are boycotting the elections.
On July 14, 2025, the participating parties signed a memorandum of cooperation regarding the October 4, 2025, local elections.
Based on the memorandum, they aim to reach agreements on nominating non-partisan, neutral candidates for mayoral positions and majoritarian seats—or to run joint party candidates.
Giorgi Sharashidze told Publika that it has not yet been definitively decided whether he will be the party’s final candidate, as discussions are still ongoing.
However, for now, Sharashidze is the only name to have publicly emerged as a potential candidate in the context of the 2025 local elections.
Sharashidze noted that his possible candidacy might be due to his experience as a City Council member since 2021 and his familiarity with Tbilisi’s issues. He also holds degrees in Public Administration and Business Administration.
“The combination of these two specialties—business and public administration—will allow for a much more effective governance model in Tbilisi,” said Sharashidze.
He added that the party is in no rush, and plans to use the time available until the registration deadline. Sharashidze stated that other candidates may still be nominated for the mayoral race.
