For Georgia Appeals Preventive Measure Against Its Member Gela Abuladze

For Georgia Party has appealed a preventive measure against its member and one of the founders, a majoritarian member of the Tsalenjikha Municipality Sakrebulo, Gela Abuladze, in the Court of Appeals.

“We appealed to the Tbilisi Court of Appeals to cancel the detention as a measure of restraint, which is illegal and unjustified,” reports the party.

According to them, the State Security Service has launched an investigation into the case in order to put pressure on Gela Abuladze and his family members before the elections.

“Nevertheless, the government of “Dream” could not intimidate Gela Abuladze, he continued to fight with our team and even won the local elections in 2021, he became a majoritarian MP in Tsalenjikha City Council.

“It is also clear to everyone that “Dream” can not put up with the lost elections in the municipalities and tries to change the political situation and the choice of citizens through illegal arrests, bribery, sabotage of municipalities, etc.

“These illegal actions against the members of the party For Georgia are especially severe. Not to mention the facts of intimidation, in which the entire state system is involved, we all remember the illegal arrest of Akaki Bartaia, the attack on Malkhaz Toria and his minor son, as well as the day when Tsageri mayoral candidate Besik Bendeliani’s car was shot.

“Due to this, on March 28, 2022, the State Security Service arrested Gela Abuladze for political revenge, who was sentenced to illegal detention by the Tbilisi City Court as a measure of restraint without any legal grounds.

“Gela Abuladze’s family members and relatives, including his elderly mother, who is physically unable to move, have been prosecuted. We have appealed against this illegal decision in the Tbilisi Court of Appeals and demand an oral hearing of the case. Our team will do everything to release Gela Abuladze from illegal custody,” the party said in a statement.

The Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service has detained Gela Abuladze, the deputy of Giorgi Gakharia’s Party For Georgia in the Tsalenjikha City Council.

The State Security Service claims that Gela Abuladze was arrested for fraud committed by a group. The investigative agency says the investigation revealed that Gela Abuladze asked representative of the Mayor of Tsalenjikha municipality to forge a document certifying the ownership for persons close to him, on the basis of which the Mayor’s representative compiled false identity documents.

For Georgia party members call the detention “illegal.”
