Today I had the opportunity to welcome the new Ambassador of the United States of America, Ms. Dunnigan, with whom I had a very interesting conversation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We have planned a very active and dynamic bilateral cooperation. We spare no effort to bring the United States of America and Georgia even closer, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili, while assessing the meeting with the newly appointed US Ambassador to Georgia, Robin Dunnigan.
As the Minister noted, the close strategic partnership between Georgia and the USA was emphasized at the meeting.
“We talked about the fact that the strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States is a priority for both countries. We expressed our readiness to work actively with her in order to bring our bilateral relations even closer, to make our strategic partnership even more relevant,” said Darchiashvili.
The Minister noted that attention was also focused on the strengthening of economic cooperation between the two countries.
In addition, as the Minister noted, in the light of the existing challenges, the conversation touched on the security situation in the region.
“We are optimistic and we think that the efforts of Mrs. Ambassador, her personal involvement in the process of deepening these relations will bring very important results,” noted the first diplomat of Georgia.
On her part, the US Ambassador, Robin Dunnigan, expressed her readiness to cooperate with the Georgian government in order to further deepen the long-standing friendship between the two countries and further strengthen the strategic partnership.
“I am very pleased and honored to represent President Biden as the United States Ambassador to Georgia. I am grateful to have had a meeting with the Foreign Minister to present copies of President Biden’s credentials. I look forward to working with the people of Georgia and the Georgian government to further deepen our long-standing friendship and further strengthen our strategic partnership.,” the US Ambassador said.
As Dunnigan noted the government and people of Georgia want to deepen integration with the European Union, NATO, and the West. The Ambassador said that the US President and his administration support Georgia on this path.
The Ambassador also emphasized the importance of deepening economic and people-to-people ties. In addition, the American diplomat thanked Georgia for its firm support for Israel.
“I want to thank Georgia for its firm support of Israel. The USA and Georgia stand together and we are extremely grateful for that. I am very happy to be in Georgia and thank you for the warm welcome,” said the US Ambassador.
