The ultra-right and pro-Russian television channel Alt-Info claims that it will no longer be able to work in the current format and cites financial problems as the reason.
“Our television cannot continue to work in this format. Our television was supported by your finances. In general, our party infrastructure. We cannot call on the viewers and comrades to keep such a large television channel on a permanent basis. It is very difficult, financially unimaginable.
“We will have to do some reorganization and change the broadcasting. In what form it will happen, in what form we will return to the audience, and how we will continue the fight, we do not have a ready answer.
“All our calculations and last resources were directed to this election. We thought that there would be a different result. We can’t do anything, it is what it is,” said one of the presenters.
Alt-Info was founded in 2019 as a right-wing conservative media platform to “counter aggressive liberal censorship”.
Members of Alt-Info participated in the organization of several demonstrations and protests, including the protests against Tbilisi Pride in 2021. One of the sponsors of Alt-Info is Konstantine Morgoshia, a businessman who was founding member of conservative Georgian March and Alliance of Patriots.
In November 2021, members of Alt-Info established a political party called Conservative Movement.
