On October 15th, the International Day of Rural Women, women farmers from the regions of Samegrelo and Upper Svaneti shared their insights and experiences from the FAO Farmer Field Schools, supported by the joint efforts of UN Women and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The program aimed to improve women’s agricultural and leadership abilities, which, in the long run, reflects their empowerment.
UN Women Georgia reported the news across social media platforms, informing the public of the significance of this day as well as emphasizing the necessity to support initiatives related to gender equality.
The initiative equipped participants with crucial farming techniques and knowledge of sustainability to positively impact their communities. The outcome was immediate, resulting in the expansion of local food production.
