The eviction of the family on Kekelidze Street in Tbilisi has ended.
The Khatiashvili family was evicted from the apartment by enforcement police, while in parallel events on the ground developed against a background of tension and confrontation. There was also a physical altercation. Several people were detained, including activist Irakli Kakabadze and journalists covering the event.
A large number of police were mobilized in the surrounding area. One of the family members fainted during the eviction and had to be hospitalized.
On January 24, an eviction procedure is planned on Shalva Dadiani Street, and on January 26 – on Zandukeli Street.
President Salome Zurabishvili has responded to the eviction procedure, saying that the eviction of people in winter is prohibited in all European countries.
“Evicting people in winter is prohibited in all European countries! Human rights and European values are everything!” Salome Zurabishvili wrote.
