The good news is that Georgia is advancing towards membership, stated the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Joseph Borrell, in Brussels, where the EU Foreign Ministers Council meeting and the Eastern Partnership (EaP) ministerial take place.
“So many things happen in this part of the world. Belarusian seat will be empty. We continue trying to do our best in order to isolate Lukashenko’s regime and support the Belorussian opposition. I heard that they are going to have elections in Belarus. I wonder what kind of elections they will do.
But we have the whole Eastern partnership in a difficult situation, Belarus, Ukraine, and then, in the Caucasus. The good news is that Georgia is advancing towards membership. But the situation in Armenia requires our strong support. We will see how we can increase it and how we can continue having the Eastern Partnership on our agenda because it is our eastern border. Our eastern border is the place in the world where more hotspots are growing.
Georgia is doing well. Until now, all the analyses and proposals from the commission have been very positive. We encourage Georgia to continue on this path,” the EU High Representative declared.
