Working meetings with representatives of Local Action Group (LAG) Governing Boards continue in the Guria region, focusing on strengthening institutional capacity and enhancing their role in regional development.
Within the framework of the European Union–funded “Green Guria” project, representatives of the Governing Boards of the Ozurgeti, Chokhatauri, and Lanchkhuti LAGs held another working session aimed at advancing cooperation and defining strategic priorities.
The meeting primarily focused on reinforcing the capacities of Local Action Groups and clarifying their role in promoting sustainable regional development. Participants agreed that fostering social entrepreneurship through LAG-led initiatives and direct engagement represents one of the key priorities for the region.

During the discussions, participants explored concrete steps that Local Action Groups can take to stimulate the growth of social enterprises in Guria and strengthen their involvement in supporting environmental and social innovation. Emphasis was placed on ensuring that development initiatives respond directly to local needs and challenges.
Oorganizers say that the active participation of LAGs is crucial to tailoring planned activities to the specific socio-economic context of the region, thereby contributing to Guria’s long-term sustainable economic development.
The meeting was held as part of the EU-funded “Green Guria” project, implemented by CENN in partnership with the Young Pedagogues’ Union, the Institute of Democracy, and the Keda LAG.
The initiative forms part of the European Union’s broader support for community-led local development across Georgia.
