Estonia’s Ex-President: Don’t Go this Route, Sakartvelo

“I am seriously upset, even disgusted by what is going on in a country I have spent 23 years promoting, defending, boosting, helping. You deserve so much better than this, dear Sakartvelo.” – Toomas Hendrik

Former President of Estonia Toomas Hendrik responded to the recent developments in Georgia, reiterating his personal commitment to Georgia’s integrity and welfare, and expressing concern over what he thinks is a dismal route the country has embarked on.

“Unlike diplo-speech, when I say I am “deeply concerned”, it means I am seriously upset, pre-occupied, in part even disgusted by what is going on in a country I have spent 23 years promoting, defending, boosting, helping. You deserve so much better than this, dear Sakartvelo.

“Don’t go this route, Sakartvelo. There are too many people and countries in Europe and the West that would be all too glad to write you off; one less “FSU” country to worry about, feeding all of their self-generated narratives about you being unreformable, hence not worth support,” he wrote on Twitter.
