The Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded on its X page to the attacks against Georgia’s fifth President, Salome Zurabishvili, and the leader of the ‘For Georgia’ party Giorgi Gakharia, calling them “disgraceful and outrageous.”
The Ministry called on Georgian Dream to immediately stop the attacks and hold the perpetrators accountable.
“Outrageous and despicable assaults in Georgia, against President Salome Zurabishvili and opposition leader Giorgi Gakharia. Estonia urges GD to immediately end these attacks and hold the perpetrators accountable,” the statement reads.
Former Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, returning from the Munich Security Conference, was verbally abused and pelted with eggs at Tbilisi International Airport.
A video documenting the incident has been circulating on social media. Zurabishvili was called an “NGO agent,” a slave, and a traitor.
Giorgi Gakharia, the leader of the Gakharia for Georgia party, was also met and pelted with eggs at the airport.
