The Central Election Commission of Armenia has completed the vote-counting procedure in all polling stations. Based on the preliminary results, Nikol Pashinyan’s party, the Civil Contract, leads the election with 53.92% of the vote.
The election bloc of the former president, Robert Kocharyan’s ‘Armenia’ comes second with 21.04%. The third place is taken by the election bloc ‘I have honor,’ which, based on the preliminary data, won 5.23% of the vote. Gagik Tsarukyan’s bloc, ‘Prosperous Armenia,’ received 4.1% of the vote.
At the same time, the Central Election Commission says out of 2,593,572 potential voters, 1,281,174 citizens, i.e. 49.4% took part in the elections.
Thus, according to the preliminary results of the elections as published by the Central Electoral Commission, in the newly-elected parliament the Civil Contract party will have a constitutional majority (at least 71 MPs out of 105) and will form a government led by me.
