The Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery recently hosted a retrospective exhibition of Temo Machavariani, spanning from July 5 to September 1. Machavariani (1944-2019), a renowned Georgian painter, is known for his expressive landscapes depicting his hometown and portraits of family members. The exhibition, featuring 60 of his pieces, was the first showcase of Machavariani’s work at the gallery.
A graduate of the Tbilisi State Arts Academy, Machavariani’s works have been exhibited extensively not only domestically but also internationally, including in the UK, Spain, Azerbaijan, and Armenia.
“To create a good painting, sincerity is the first thing,” Machavariani once said. This exhibition serves as a significant contribution to his legacy and place in Georgian art and culture.
