Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia held and led a Demographic Council Meeting today.
Key goals of developing the demographics in the country were discussed at the meeting held today within the Government Administration.
Council Members reviewed the initiatives designed for the improvement of the demographic situation in the country. Focus was put on the development and introduction of various programs towards this end. Also, topics of facilitated employment and migration were discussed, along with initiatives on healthcare, social security and education.
As Tamar Gabunia, Deputy Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Security of Georgia noted at the meeting, a legislative package will be drafted in the most efficient manner and it will be submitted to the next meeting of the Demographic Council of Georgia for its consideration.
“The first meeting of the Council was held today. Key trends witnessed in the realm of demographics were presented along with initiatives pursued in the areas of healthcare, education and social security. We discussed the essential improvements, international practice and required changes to enable the improvement of demographic trends in the country. Agreement was reached on drafting a legislative package in the most efficient manner to be submitted to the next meeting of the Demographic Council of Georgia,” Gabunia said.
