The US ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan, answered the journalists’ question about Georgian Dream departees, saying that she is not sure what this group represents, and how different they are from the government.
“What I can say is that the accusations that they have made recently against the US and others are nonsense, conspiracy theories that have no basis. It is very important to remember that America works with all political forces, across the political spectrum. So Can we do a better job of strengthening Georgia’s democratic institutions, and strengthening its economy. We have been doing this with our Georgian partners for 30 years and we intend to do so in the years to come. I would say that any accusation that we are held responsible for the polarization that is here is an attempt to shift the blame from them to us and our Western partners,” Degnan noted.
She remarked that deep polarization came from Gavrilov’s night, unfulfilled political promises and anti-democratic actions, and not from Western partners, who are only helping Georgia to overcome this deep polarization.
