Four bodies have been found as a result of the intensive search and rescue operation ongoing in Nergeeti village in Baghdati. The operation for 5 other missing persons is underway, – the head of the Emergency Situations Management Service, Temur Mgebrishvili, said.
He claimed that a very large earth mass slid down onto residential buildings and about 70% of that mass has yet to be moved.
“So far, as a result of the intensive search and rescue operation, the bodies of 4 people have been found. The operation for 5 missing persons is underway. More than 200 fire-rescuers, and a canine group are involved in the work, additional equipment is being mobilized, and we will continue to work intensively until all are found. About 70% has yet to be freed from the land mass which tore away from the mountainside. We’ll most likely finish the work by the end of the day. It will not be necessary to add manpower,” Mgebrishvili said.
