Aslan Bzhania, the de facto leader of Russia-occupied Abkhazia, arrived in Belarus, where he met with the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, as part of his visit.
“Why is the leadership of Georgia reacting so harshly to our meetings? You and I never planned any action against Tbilisi,” Lukashenko told Bzhania at the meeting.
“One thought does not escape me: Why the leadership of Georgia reacts so harshly to our meetings. Can’t there be normal, warm, friendly relations between persons, between peoples? Maybe these relations will promote peace and friendship between the Abkhazian and Georgian peoples. You and I have never planned any action against Tbilisi,” Lukashenko said.
He also claimed that he is following the situation that is developing in Georgia, including in relation to the former president Mikheil Saakashvili.
“Something doesn’t seem right, in the sense that he was the president. To allow it to go as far as it is, is simply not right. Why I say this: We have not given an assessment, we have not been involved in this or other situations. As far as possible, we had and still have very good relations with Tbilisi,” Lukashenko noted.
Aslan Bzhania arrived in Belarus from Russia today. The de facto leader of occupied Abkhazia was in Moscow before his arrival in Belarus, where he held several meetings.
